Shipping laboratory and measuring equipment from Hannover abroad: packed for the instrument, documented for customs, insured to your door.
An analyser from a German manufacturer, a used spectrometer from a university, a precision measuring instrument from a dealer in Hannover or Braunschweig: these do not travel in a supplier carton. We collect the instrument in northwest Germany, pack it in a crate built to its dimensions with vibration cushioning and a moisture barrier, prepare the commercial invoice and export declaration with the right HS code and ship it insured by express or air freight to your institute, hospital or plant.
The short version.
Spectrometers, chromatographs, microscopes, balances, optical and coordinate measuring instruments, test benches, medical and dental devices, sensors and controllers.
Foam suspension or blocking in a timber crate, moisture barrier with desiccant for long routes, accessories packed and listed separately.
Commercial invoice with the HS code of the instrument (chapter 90 for most measuring, optical and medical instruments), packing list, EU export declaration, manufacturer's declaration or data sheet where the destination requires it.
Some high-precision instruments are dual-use and need a licence before they leave the EU. We check the classification with the manufacturer and do not ship until it is clear.
Instruments with lithium batteries, calibration gases, solvents or radioactive sources are checked case by case; some we cannot take. Tell us before we quote.
Express for instruments up to parcel size, air freight door to door for crates.
Checked October 2026. Customs rules and carrier limits change; your quote states what applies on the day.
What matters when an instrument leaves Germany.
The crate is built for vibration, not just for drops
A laboratory instrument fails from vibration over hours in an aircraft hold as often as from one drop. We suspend the instrument in foam so that the crate can move and the instrument does not, block anything that can shift inside it, lock moving parts where the manufacturer recommends it and keep the whole package dry with a barrier and desiccant. Photos before and after packing go to you.
HS code and declarations
Measuring, checking, optical and medical instruments mostly fall under chapter 90 of the customs tariff. The right subheading decides duty and whether an import licence or a registration is needed in your country, for example for medical devices. We use the code the manufacturer or supplier states; if there is none, we propose one from the data sheet and show it to you before we file.
Used instruments from universities and dealers
Second-hand instruments from a German institute or dealer often come without original packing and sometimes without a current invoice. We collect, document the condition with photos, and prepare a commercial invoice from the sales documents you provide. Some countries restrict the import of used equipment or need an inspection certificate; we tell you before the instrument is packed.
Insurance for the value you name
You tell us the value, we insure the route from takeover at the manufacturer or dealer to delivery at your door. The cover starts with your written confirmation. With photos, a packing list and a crate that matches the documents, a claim is settled on facts rather than on argument.

Frequently asked questions.
Can you collect an instrument directly from the manufacturer or a university?
Yes: Hannover, Braunschweig, Hamburg, Bremen and the rest of Lower Saxony, more distant places such as Göttingen or Clausthal on request. We arrange the handover in German.
Do you ship medical devices?
Yes. Medical devices are packed like other sensitive instruments and declared with their chapter 90 HS code. Many countries require a registration or import permit for medical devices; that is on the importer's side and we tell you in advance.
Is the instrument insured in transit?
On request for the value you name, from collection to delivery, starting with your written confirmation.
What about instruments with batteries or calibration gas?
Case by case: they fall under the carriers' dangerous goods rules and need the right declaration, labels and packing. Tell us what the instrument contains before we quote.
Can you ship a whole laboratory or a test bench?
Equipment up to a few hundred kilograms per piece we crate and ship ourselves. Larger installations we route to a specialist forwarder and say so before you commit.
How long does it take?
Collection usually within one working day in Hannover, one to three working days for packing depending on the crate, then express in 1 to 3 working days or air freight, quoted individually.
